NEDF RECOGNIZES ESCALANTE AS PARTNER FOR DEVELOPMENT



“You will never know the capability of your people unless you help them help themselves”, were one of the inspiring lines delivered by Mr. Antonio G. Cumagon, one of the remaining 2 founding members of Negros Economic Development Foundation (NEDF) and the keynote speaker during its 40th Charter Anniversary held last July 24, 2010 at Sugarland Hotel Bacolod City. The program started at about 10 in the morning which was followed by a lunch buffet and ended around 2 in the afternoon.
Being one of its strong partners over the years, Escalante City received a plaque of recognition from NEDF. The award was received by Vermont Khan L. Juvahib, the new head of the City Tourism Office in behalf of Acting Mayor Ester M. Ampil. Mayor Melecio J. Yap Jr. is currently on-leave until the end of July.
Various programs are being implemented by the city with the assistance of NEDF such as the socialized housing project and the Maternal Need and Child Health Need programs.
NEDF is a foundation founded 39 years ago by 5 concerned Negrense, The Late Carlos L. Locsin, Msgr. Antonio Y. Fortich, Eriberto V. Garcia and 2 remaining founding members, Antonio A. Cumagun and Antonio J. Montinola. The foundation gave awards to its most loyal partners on its development projects, various organizations and LGUs, all members of the Board of Trustees, officers and staff who are with the foundation 15 years and above.
